As part of the Somerset Land and Food Project, Somerset Community Food  worked with their partners Geofutures to develop an all singing all dancing rocket fuelled digital map, FoodMapper.

FoodMapper is designed to close the gap between those seeking access to land to grow on and those enlightened and sympathetic landowners willing to make land available.

FoodMapper captures and utilises local knowledge to map supply and demand of land for the community based production of food. As such it is a first step to identify where demand and need exists to bring new land into production.

All groups concerned with access to the land and skills to grow food on across Somerset can also use FoodMapper to map all local food resources – allotments, community gardens and orchards, chicken co-ops, local food initiatives and events etc so that everyone can instantly see where they can grow, buy and eat wonderful local food!
