Join our inspiring community food conference! This is an opportunity for those working and volunteering in community food projects to reconnect and make new connections.

It's been a while since we have organised one of our food conferences and some of you may remember our practical, fun and informative gatherings.

It's being held on Saturday 3rd November at Wells Town Hall, 10-3:30pm.

The plans for our conference are shaping up. Alongside speaker Martin Carahar, we have some passionate community food workers and volunteers who will be talking about their current projects:

Vicky Sullivan – Creating Health, Somerset, who will talk about the roadshow of nutrition and wellbeing events they are running across the county.

Bonita Everson – Red Brick Community Garden, Glastonbury, who will be speaking about their mushroom cultivation project.

A volunteer gardener is needed to help plan and start a school garden in Bridgwater

Haygrove School in Bridgwater has been awarded funding for a school garden and have an area of land allocated. They need a volunteer to help plan and establish the garden, ideally starting as soon as possible as the grant money needs to be spent by July.

'There is flexibility regarding days. We are happy to meet and talk to anyone who may be able to support us to achieve this'.

FareShare FoodCloud are running a project with local supermarkets which enables them to donate their surplus food to eligible charities and not for profits in the area. They work with churches, schools, homeless shelters, community cafes, food banks and many other not for profit organisations across the UK.

Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th September 2013 saw the second Incredible Edible Somerset Open Gardens weekend. More than 22 workshops took place involving over 190 people across every district of Somerset, while over 21 sites were open to the public to inspire others to get growing.
